Nicholas Brownlee, Bass-Baritone, is a native of South Alabama and a graduate of Theodore High School and the University of South Alabama where he studied voice with Dr. Thomas Rowell. He was a chorister and comprimario artist with USA and Mobile Opera where he “cut his teeth on opera” and decided to pursue a professional career as a singer. He earned a graduate degree at Rice University and has been quick to make sound waves in the world of opera. Nick was first prize winner of the 2016 Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, the Zarzuela prize at Operalia 2016, 2016 Sara Tucker Study Grant and 2015 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. He performed as a Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist at Los Angeles Opera and made his Metropolitan Opera debut in the 2016-2017 season as well as performances with Los Angeles Opera, Atlanta Opera, Teatro de São Carlos in Lisbon and the BBC Symphony in London. He is married to American Mezzo-Soprano, Jennifer Feinstein who recently made possible the most prestigious title of Nick’s young career – “Dad”.
